Mark Peters is the CEO and second-generation family business owner of Butterball Farms, Inc., a nationally recognized Best and Brightest Company to Work For. Butterball Farms is America’s leading producer of culinary butter and margarine and creates custom butter solutions of some of America’s biggest brands. Mark started as a factory worker in his father’s company at the age of 12 which taught him first-hand about the challenges frontline workers face.
In 2003, he organized a pioneering group of CEO’s and community leaders to found The SOURCE, a nonprofit organization that has helped thousands of workers navigate personal challenges that interfere with their jobs, delivering an annual ROI of over 200%. In 2020, he published his first book The SOURCE: Using the Power of Collaboration to Stabilize Your Workforce and Impact your Community. The model has been replicated around the country.
Mark’s second book "The Retention Trap" is expected in 2025 and highlights the need to rethink talent and focus on investment rather than retention.
